Service Workers’ Union 32BJ SEIU Endorses Latoya Gayle for State Senate
BOSTON – After offering candidates the opportunity to complete a detailed questionnaire and meet with members for an in-depth interview, Local 32BJ of the Service EmployeesInternational Union (SEIU) today is proud to announce its endorsement of Latoya Gayle for election to the Massachusetts State Senate in the 1st Suffolk District.
“At Latoya Gayle’s candidate interview, our members were impressed with her rootedness in the Dorchester community where she has raised her four children, her experience in supporting the mission of public education, and her keen sensitivity to the struggles of working people in Boston,” said Kevin Brown, Executive Vice President of 32BJ SEIU and the head of the Massachusetts and Rhode Island district, which represents 22,000 janitors, security officers, airport workers, and other service workers. “Our diverse membership sees themselves reflected in Ms. Gayle’s experiences and supports her determination to ease the region’s affordability and housing crisis, and to fight for the rights of working people across Dorchester, South Boston, and all of Massachusetts.
